Please know, if you have any questions or concerns I'm happy to chat with you. Just give me a call or send me an email.

Mathematicians at work with multiplication and factors of 10, 100, and 1,000!

I am thankful for each and every one of these amazing 4th graders!

Happy Friday!

I can't believe it's November 13th already! Conferences begin next week. Please call and make an appointment to meet with me so I can share all the great work your fourth grader has been doing!

In reading we are launching off on new strategies, making inferences and drawing conclusions. We also worked on vocabulary and targeted multiple meaning words.

Way to go Pattyn, Malia, and Parker! On to Cone 3!

Finishing up our opinion writing has taken some time. Many authors are now through the writing process and have printed their work.

In science we've covered the scientific method and did an investigation to find out what yeast likes to eat. To share what we learned we did a scientific write up. Thank you Allison for a job well done!

We wrapped up area and perimeter this week and are now into multiplication. Our target was to show multiplication expressions on a place value chart, when multiplying by 10, 100, and 1,000. Another strategy we used was to simplify expressions to solve those types of problems. The work is coming home daily to support them with their homework if needed.

This month we are helping serve lunch!

Another week has flown by!

Work on the opinion piece about an owl's adaptation is wrapping up and typing begins next week.

In math we have been working on area and perimeter. Ask your mathematician to share the formulas they've been practicing.

In the name of science we dissected a chicken foot and compared it to our own foot. Ask your scientist to tell you about the experience.

4th grade is so much fun!

The fun has been earned! They have taken 3 math tests in the last couple of weeks to show what they know about the targets we've covered. One of the tests was done on the computer just like the SBA. Check in with your mathematician and see how it's going. I made a deal with them and on days we have a test there won't be math homework.

We are working on opinion writing and using the information we learned about owls and their superpowers. Authors are choosing an adaptation they think best helps the owl survive in the wild. They must back up their opinion by citing information from 2 of the sources we have looked at. Ask your author which adaptation it's going to be and the sources that will be cited.

Science rocks! We have been learning about the brain, dissecting chicken feet, and we did an investigation to see what yeast likes to eat and are in the process of our write up.

Thank you Mrs. Rhode for planning all those super fun activities for our Halloween bash! It was a blast! Thanks to Mrs. Cassel for the delicious Halloween treats and drinks and Mrs. Stark for the festive plates and napkins.

Descriptive monster writing!
