It's good to be back at it! There's still so much to do! Thank you again for meeting with me to celebrate your fourth grader's learning! It made me realize how much I missed having that opportunity in November. Getting to know you and your fourth grader is a treasured blessing and one of the reasons I love teaching!
Social Studies: Another big thank you is in order for supervising, planning, discussing, gathering, building, painting, pinning, gluing, writing, transporting, and everything else you did to create those amazing totem poles! Truly works of art! Listening to the fourth graders share was a real treat! I can confidently say they are all pretty confident as speakers and meeting that state standard.
Math: Fractions are the topic of the day. Since we began our math rotations, mathematicians are working on a variety of standards using fractions. Touch base and find out what standard your mathematician is practicing.
Reading: This week we read historical fiction in small groups and practiced using cause and effect to summarize the story. Ask your reader to summarize the story for you.
Science: We began the process of making our thinking caps. Scientists paper mached away! Next week, they will paint their helmets. Then, it's on to build an electrical circuit to light them up.
Art: Mrs. Child led us in a lesson on positive and negative space, when we worked on a Zentangle piece. Thank you so much, Mrs. Child! You're commitment to teaching us art lessons this year is so appreciated!
