Our last full week in May is ending!

Thanks so much for your support during our fund raiser! We are all motivated to Dive in, be Resourceful, Elevate Others, check our Attitudes, and Make a difference every day! The kids really enjoyed having the APEX team around! They ran like the wind and completed many laps.

It's been so busy in fourth grade! Testing has ended and we are back to a somewhat normal schedule. However, all kinds of exceptions will be occurring in the last 3 weeks.

Reading/Writing: We have been writing summaries and practicing drawing conclusions as readers. This week's one to answer is: What do readers do when they draw conclusions? Have your reader tell you about the fun stories we've read.  Many readers have completed the final rate and accuracy assessment. Celebrating their growth has been awesome! Be sure to ask.

Math: We are working with decimals and fractions. Have your mathematician share what they know.

Science: Geologists are working on identifying materials in the mock rock. We have been working on our electricity video as well. It's going to be electrifying!

Art: Salvador Dali was the featured artist most recently. Check out our interesting cows. Other artwork is coming home soon. Thank you tons, Mrs. Child for your commitment to teaching us so much about art this year. You are AMAZING!

Happy Mother's Day!
Hope you enjoy your little gift painted in the impressionistic style of Monet. We could never say "thank you" enough for all that moms do!

As you know it's test season around here! Please make sure your superstar student gets lots of rest and eats a good breakfast before heading off to school the next couple of weeks. An extra snack might be in order as well. Thanks to the Beasley family, the Child family, and the Christensen family for the snacks you sent in for all of the hard working test takers! It was a hoot watching the trash pile accumulate on their desk while they were testing, as they munched on snacks, mints, and Smarties. Test days are May 10th and 11th this week for writing and May 17th, 18th, and 19th the following week for math.

Here's this week's one to answer: If six players each drink 2/3 quart of water during practice, how many quarts of water will the coach need to bring?

What a wonderful May Day celebration!

Way to go 4th grade weavers! You did an outstanding job!

Geologists at work breaking up mock rocks. Ask about the difference between a rock and a mineral.

comparing fractions with <, >, and = to symbols
adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators and with 10 and 100 as denominators

Authors are working on their final copies for the informational piece on a sea creature.
