Working hard in fourth grade!

Writing: After reading "Wild Horses" writing several RACE response answers was the target. Looking at 3 different sources writers have been asked to write an opinion piece about zoos. Ask your author to share their opinion with you and the reasons why they're supporting that idea.

Math: Comparing fractions has been our work in math. We practiced many strategies such as using benchmark fractions, and finding equivalent fractions for common numerators and denominators. Drawing tape diagrams and plotting fractions on number lines also helped us determine the symbols used to express our comparisons. Now we're moving on to adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.

Reading: Our reading target was cause and effect. We read "Wild Horses" and filled out a cause and effect chart. We also read "The Wild Ponies of Chincoteague" from our Treasures book and
Cattle-Driving Horses of the Old West. Readers created cause and effect charts for all the stories.
